Don’t you just love Chanel? I was at the mall a few days ago and came across these amazing camellia flower-covered boots, which I was very excited about since I had just pinned (and lusted after) the sneaker version a few days before. I don’t own anything by the designer yet, so I’ll have to settle for a DIY inspired by it for now. Which brings me to this week’s project! The second I saw these Chanel bow booties was shoe love. And every time I see a photo of them I freak out and die… imagine if I saw them in person.
SUPPLIES
I held out on this DIY, waiting for the perfect pair of affordable shoes— and found them at Forever 21. From there, all you need is some ribbon, a needle and thread, scissors and fabric paint. I used four 11″ long pieces of 3″ thick black satin ribbon and four 3″ pieces of 0.5″ thick ribbon.
DIRECTIONS
To make the bows, fold a piece of the thick ribbon in half, overlapping a bit. Hold it together and sew a loose running stitch to attach the top and bottom. Pinch it together in an accordion fold. Make sure both end pieces fold inward on the same side, which will be the backside of your bow. Hold it together in the middle and sew. Then take a piece of the smaller ribbon and wrap around the middle of your bow, trimming to size and then sewing to secure. Repeat to make four bows.
Hold up two bows and judge where you want to sew them onto your shoes. You can mark it on the shoe or just make a mental note. Sew each bow onto the shoe, trying not to let any of the thread show. Now is the fun part! Take the fabric paint and make random little polka dots on both sides of the boots. Let it dry and then they’re ready to wear!
